The employer shall select and provide an appropriate respirator based on the respiratory hazard(s) to which the worker is exposed and workplace and user factors that affect respirator performance and reliability.
The assigned protection factor is only effective when the employer implements a continuing, effective respirator program as required by the OSHA Respiratory Protection regulation 29 CFR 1910.134, including training, fit testing, maintenance, and use requirements.
